Rawhide Honda

Rawhide hondas are not only essential on rawhide reatas, but are even sometimes preferred on nylon or poly ropes in working cowboy circles.   Rawhide hondas allow ropes to slide faster, which allows the loop to tighten and loosen more quickly.    The added weight of a rawhide honda is greatly helpful for the art of ranch roping, such as in a rodear branding, allowing the roper to throw further and with more accuracy.  They are crafted with an easily replaceable burner, which is wrapped and sewn on to protect the braid structure from the friction of sliding rope.  Although certainly less traditional, a plastic speed-burner can also be used.
