Navajo Coin Silver Squash Blossom Necklace by Melvin Thompson

Step into the world of coin silver with this remarkable Navajo squash blossom necklace, crafted by acclaimed Navajo silversmith Melvin Thompson and stamped with his signature “MT” hallmark on the reverse of the naja.

Nineteen Washington quarters bring this piece to life, soldered onto both the squash blossom flowers and the center naja pendant. Look closely and you’ll spot the dates: fifteen quarters from 1954, a single 1956, and three more from 1957, each one 90% silver and 10% copper, true to U.S. coin minting standards before 1964.

Strung with a graduating row of hand made beads that build from a single strand into two, the necklace closes securely with a hook and eye clasp. For collectors of Southwest jewelry or American silver coinage alike, this one of a kind necklace offers the best of both worlds in a single, wearable heirloom.
