Meet the maker behind your gear! Gerald Wright is a retired rancher who has been making rein chains for over 13 years, and it shows. With the knowledge and skill of a lifetime spent on Nevada and Idaho ranches, Gerald crafts rein chains that are as durable as they are functional, tested and proven out on the range, not just in the shop.
These copper twisted wire rein chains feature a center swivel and solid brass ends, available in 10″ or 12″ lengths to fit your setup.
Rein chains are used on romal reins, never on split reins. Much like the slobber straps on a snaffle bit outfit, they help extend the life of valuable rawhide reins while adding weight and feel to your ride. While strong, rein chains are built to break before the rawhide reins in the event of an accident or mishap, most horsemen like to match the chain’s finish or patina to their bit. Sometimes made with swivels, rein chains connect via S-hooks at each end, and rawhide or leather connectors are sometimes used between the reins and bit as well.
